Metering is an incredibly important aspect of photography to grasp. You might have heard about the exposure triangle but I believe we should be talking about an exposure square with metering being the forth side as it is equally as important to getting the correct exposure as your aperture, ISO and shutter speed.We will explore how and when to use each of the metering options and how to use it to get some creative lighting in your shots.

In this workshop, we will explore the art of creating stunning images with a shallow depth of field. Our experienced instructor will guide you through the process of understanding and applying the principles of photography, including aperture, focal length, and distance. We will cover topics such as using a shallow depth of field to create a mood, blurring out distracting backgrounds, and how to use a shallow depth of field to give a bokeh effect behind our subjects to make them pop.

This meetup focuses on creating black and white portraits with dynamic shades and powerful emotions. In this meetup, you are encouraged to bring your own model (a friend or a family member). It is suggested to use a prime lens (35mm, 50mm or 85mm) but any zoom lens will do. If you have a wide-angle lens, this can also be used as we will also be looking at environmental portraits.
Whether you're a beginner with a new camera or a seasoned photographer looking to diversify your portfolio, I'll walk you through the elements that go into creating stunning black and white portraits.
